EXPLORING MARS - THE AMAZING RED PLANET WITH GOOGLE


Last time, we explored Earth and Moon using Google maps now we are going to explore Mars using Google. 

Steps:

·        Go to https://www.google.com/mars/ and explore amazing imagery from Mars Rover
·        Click the zoom in button (+) at lower right of the screen. (Zoom in five times to see Martian features clearly)
·        Define Mons. Click on Mountains tab (at the top left). From the search results for mountains, select the following:
o   Arsia Mons Mosaic
o   Tholus Summit
Attach screenshots and write few lines.
·        Define Plains. Click on Plains tab. Select the following:
o   Elysium Planitia
o   Filled Crater
Attach screenshots and write few lines.

·        Define Canyons. Click on Canyons tab.  From the search results, select the Coprates Chasma and Candor Chasma Rim.
Attach screenshots and write few lines.

·        Define Rides. Click on Ridges tab. Select the Ridges and Arcuate Fractures from the search results.
Attach screenshots and write few lines.

·        Define Dunes. Click on Dunes tab. Select Proctor Crater Dunes and Moreux Crater Dunes from the search results.
Attach screenshots and write few lines.

·        Define Craters. Click on Craters tab. Select Pedestal Craters in Utopia and Pinwheel Crater at Night from the search results.
Attach screenshots and write few lines.

·        Now explore the landing places of sent space crafts. Click on Spacecraft tab. Select the following from the search results and take screenshots.
o   Viking 1 Lander (USA)  
o   MER Spirit Rover (USA)

EXPLORING EARTH AND MOON WITH GOOGLE


Task 1: Explore our beautiful home planet: Earth

·        Go to https://www.google.com/maps
·        
      Select Earth view by clicking Satellite at the lower left corner.
·        
     Search the following places one by one, zoom and pan, and take screenshots.
o   Amazon or Nile river
o   Mount Everest or K2
o   Sahara or Thar dessert
o   Daintree forest or Tropical Rainforest of Xishuangbanna
o   Greenland Island or New Guinea Island
o   Great Pyramid of Giza or Hanging Gardens of Babylon
o   Lonar crater lake
·        Attach screenshots and write about these places.

Task 2: Explore Moon- Earth’s own natural satellite

·        After exploring our lively planet explore Moon’s panoramas from Apollos missions, Go to https://www.google.com/moon/
·        
      Search the following lunar features, select them from search results, read the popup balloon and complete the below table. Attach screenshots.
